A) Explain what the term ‘DAB’ means and state one advantage to the consumer of using DAB.
The term DAD stands for Digital Audio Broadcasting and an advantage of using digital audio broadcasting is that people can listen to a wider variety of radio stations and music genres . (2)
B) Explain two reasons why listening to radio via apps is more popular than listening via digital television (DTV).
1. One reason is why listening to the radio via apps is more popular than digital television is that you can listen to it on the go this means that when someone is on a walk they can use the app to listen to the radio while they walk. (2)
2. Another reason is that you can listen to a variety of genres while on the go because of the amount of apps there is.

A) Explain what the acronym BARB stands for and what the organisation does.
The acronym BARB stand for Broadcasters Audience Research Board and the organisation collect data of viewerships for different television channels and programmes.
B) Explain three interpretations that can be made about the differences in audience demographic between viewers of ITV1 and BBC2. Use examples and evidence from the data to support your answers.
1. ITV has more female viewers watching their programmes because stereotypically females are most likely going to watch soap operas then men.
2. People watching BBC2 are more likely to be older man because stereotypically younger men and women don't watch snooker or older TV shows such as Dads Army.

A) Explain why an independent company often works with other companies as part of a joint venture. Use examples to support your answer.
One reason why an independent company may work with other companies as a joint venture is because a lot of other companies have other platforms they can promote the product on. This is good because more people will see the product this means more people will be aware of the product this will lead to a wider audience wanting to see the product therefore it will be more of a success. An example this is when Channel 4 worked with Warp Films and produced This is England.
B) Explain two disadvantages of being an independent company. Use examples to support your answer.
1. One disadvantage is that it is harder to promote your products through different media sectors this is bad because less people will see their product. An example of this is when sumo-digital first started out they didn't have the platforms to promote their games so they had to reach out to larger companies such as Microsoft.
