Starter LO3 - Monday 22nd November

There are many genre theories which contribute to the idea of how a product's genre will contribute to its success with the example I'm using which is the Mr. Mime interrogation scene from Detective Pikachu (2019) to support and give evidence to my debate with reference to external products. 

Firstly, I don't agree with Steve Neal's theory that genre only contains repetition and difference. My main reason for disagreeing with this would be in the Mr. Mime interrogation scene it isn't a standard detective interrogation but it is mainly done for a comedic purpose, Mr. Mime doesn't talk in the scene so our interpretation only comes from the two main characters (Pikachu and Tim). Furthermore, my second point highlights the fact that Tim threatens to kill Mr. Mime in this scene which starts away from the normal detective genre.
